Californians were tricked into approving Prop 47/57 with misleading names like the Public Safety and Rehabilitation Act of 2016 and a promise that the state will only allow non-violent criminals to be eligible for early release. Sounds reasonable right?
What they didn’t tell you is that these initiatives also REDEFINED what it is meant to commit a violent crime in California. Californians unknowingly approved Prop 47/57 while deeming crimes such as rape, domestic violence, child abuse, and assault with a deadly weapon as non-violent crimes.
Now, dangerous criminals are being released back into our communities everyday and our government wants to hide it from the public with the hope that we are not paying attention. This is unacceptable.
California Crime Watch intends to do what our politicians will not: track these dangerous criminals, educate the public, and work to REFORM this dangerous policy. Our residents, law enforcement, and victims deserve better! Join us in our fight!
